Whadda Week (two weeks ago)

My yearly camping sojourn with the SWANKy crew was awesome. Randy visited from Florida for a tour of Ajax, Woodpecker, and the Coke Ovens. We hit the road Monday morning and got back to the barn Thursday afternoon. Campfire food, jerkey, beer, and bad stories were all part of the yearly ritual. So was mud, dust, and clear star lit skies.

This trip was Natasha's turn, she was very good. Only God knows what food she scrounged. From me, she got dog food - occasionally spiced up with eggs, cheese, or both. And I know the SWANKy campers, there was found to be scrounged all over the place.

And Randy found a cactus to worship (if he'd only turn around).

Got home Thursday, and on St. Patrick's Day Friday Shanna & I flew to Las Vegas for our anniversary. Friday night we saw Blue Man Group in their new Venetian digs. Blue Man has a great mix of percussion, comedy, and showmanship that makes our repeat visit worthwhile. Saturday night we had dinner at Emeril's New Orleans' style fish house. We both had the chef's multi-course meal, and mine had a wine pairing for each course. The food and service were superb. I'm ready to go again...

Galen's retribution. When I got home Thursday, he dissed me all Thursday night and Friday morning. I expected some punishment, but I was still bummed about it. Sunday night was even worse, for all of us. He was cranky & clingy to Shanna, cranky and dismissive of me. A bottle smoothed him out, but he was still pensive. Through most of Monday, he was on & off again with the cranky. But by Monday night he had mostly returned to normal. The remainder of the week good-byes were tough, but he got over it. His routine was back to normal.

A hearty thanks to Pam & Galen for watching him over the weekend. Galen & the dogs enjoyed their weekend getaway.
