Portable Throne

This morning I found Liam sitting up. All by himself. No assistance from anyone. He had a dazed look on his face, and then boom, a face plant. Earlier in the morning I could see him experimenting with the move, but it never worked out. And after I wasn't around... It's not happening again with any frequency, but soon he will have a place to sit wherever he goes.

Future footballer - well, maybe a little early on that prediction. But Liam has about conquered the three-point stance. And to see him reach out at something is wondrous. Other than speed, the crawling hasn't improved much.

Snapshot

The boys had a regular exam Thursday. Both are healthy.

Liam:
20 lbs 1 oz
27 3/4 inches

Galen:
30 lbs 6 oz
37 3/4 inches

We had a joint exam, like herding cats. Shanna & the doctor focused on Galen while I kept Liam entertained, and then the doctor came over and focused on Liam. Haveing all the chaos was fun for the boys...

Liam is fine

Yes, Liam is fine. Not to cast any doubts with that introduction, but since I haven't said anything lately I thought it time to be specific.

He is on the verge of crawling. Currently he's perfecting the 4-point stance. It's a joyful display, a young boy up on his hands and knees, rocking back and forth. And when he picks up a hand, boom, on his face. But the duration is lengthening, the swaying is more controlled, and the falling not so often.

The predominent motion is a backward crawl/slide/wiggle. Slow and not quite methodical. He can do a forward motion, but it is more of a slither. And this usually sems to happen when something intersting is close by.

He and Galen seem to be buds. I look foward to watching the backyard play and suffer through their young antics.

I say that now.
