Countdown to Christmas

Lights, ornaments, shopping mall Santa's and lots of sales. Christmas must be coming. I think we have it mostly under control. There are a few items to purchase, and the stocking stuffers. But I believe we are being sane. Last year was a bit overboard, but the kids were happy. And I don't think they could of told you what they received just a day or two later. So being sane is probably safe.

As for our decorations, I did string lights on one of our Crab Apple trees. While it does look nice, it was a mistake. The tree is covered with short, stubby branches that complicate matters. Indoors, we have yet to begin. Our tree preference, the Noble, can't be found around here. It has stout branches, big gaps, and an open view that is perfect for pewter and crystal ornaments. We may just have to get out a few stands and use them to make a display.

And the best Christmas gift this year? Shanna will be home for the holidays. No work, no travel.
