Roased Magnet

Sunday I roasted a chicken with veggies; carrots & potatoes basting in the juices, all seared by the heat. Hmmmm.

I also roasted the magnetic key for the childproof latches. The missing key was noticed and followed by house-wide searches, nothing. But when it was time to add some veggies I noticed this weird, disfigured lump on the side of the pan. So today I was at Babies-r-Us to get another key.

Kudos to Safety 1st. The key melted in the 450 degree oven, but stayed together, mostly. It didn't pool in the bottom of the oven. More important, it didn't stink up the kitchen or affect the flavor of the bird.

Good bird leftovers today - hmmmm. Galen was a chow-puppy and munched away at it. He wasn't so fond of the potatoes, but that's OK, I was.

Fall and exercise

Fall is upon us. No, the leaves aren't turning - it still regularly reaches 100. So how do I know? Galen can walk on the rocks without loosing flesh, we can almost reclaim our back porch after the sun goes down, and the air is refreshing in the morning.

Last week we visited the zoo, Galen walked from the car, to & through to zoo, and back to the car. He slept good for his nap and again that night. I keep trying this walking thing. It's slower than a stroller, but he seems to enjoy it more. And exercise is good for him too. But there are stores where he gets to ride in the cart - no way and I willing to try and control the fingers from grabbing everything in sight. We've walked over to the park a couple of times. The simple things.
