Birthday surprise

Last week we got Galen to fess up the guest list for his birthday party, it was cutting it close to send out invitations. When I started looking up addresses I noticed that the usual suspects were missing. "Hmm," I thought to myself, "what's up?"

"Galen, where is kid A, B, or C?" Not that I really used A, B, or C, I'm just protecting the innocent. Scratch that, they're probably not innocent, it's just that their real names aren't important to the story.

"I wanted to get to know these other kids better."

I was flabbergasted. Shocked. And very proud. Shanna explained that the uninvited best friends might feel slighted, mad for not being included. He was OK with that.

He surprised me, and for his birthday I received a gift.
